Dayton Keliikipi, an Anchorage School District transportation Specialist and conspiracy theorist with a criminal record, has filed to run for Midtown Assembly District 4 against Assembly member Felix Rivera.
Dayton filed his letter of intent on Nov. 1 and launched a campaign website. The website, however, appears to be a ripoff of Arizona congressional candidate Alex Stovall.
The uncanny resemblance was first reported in a tweet by Wesley Early. Early noticed Keliikipi’s website included a bio and photographs from Stovall’s campaign, as well as links that redirected to Stovall’s campaign page.
Taking a preliminary look at candidates filing their intent for next year’s Anchorage Muni Election and found something weird.

Stovall, whom Keliikipi appears to be modeling himself after, had come under scrutiny for making misleading claims that he was a military chaplain and for stating that he did not think Biden was President while in the Army Reserve.
Those portions of the website have since been deleted but his homepage has now been updated and expanded, with campaign promises that are plagiarized from – you guessed it – Stovall.
Keliikipi has a history in Alaska that includes a misdemeanor criminal mischief conviction from 2013. He pleaded guilty and had a stalking charge dismissed.
Reading through his promises to reform school curriculum and teachers unions, one wonders if Stovall Keliikipi realizes he is running for Assembly or if he thinks he is running for School Board (or Congress).
In case you are wondering about Keliikipi’s own views, they seem to closely match Stovall’s, with both claiming (without evidence) that voter fraud is to blame for the Republican’s underperformance in the midterm elections.
Facebook posts from Keliikipi indicate that he is also an anti-LGBTQ+ culture warrior. He also seems to be running on stale COVID conspiracy theories, though his posts can be hard to follow due to a chaotic approach to sentence structure and punctuation.
It will be interesting to see if Keliikipi will be supported by the Alaska Republican Party in his bid for Anchorage Assembly while running on a platform that has turned into a big loser for the MAGA Republican party. Maybe when Keliikipi rebuilds his website, it will include some original positions.
