Senate Democrats Hire New Press Secretary to Help Communicate Progressive Agenda for Alaska
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 7, 2015
ANCHORAGE — The Alaska Senate Democratic Caucus is pleased to announce the hiring of award-winning writer and blogger Jeanne Devon as Minority Press Secretary. Devon replaces Frank Ameduri whose resignation was accepted on December 1, 2015 after just a few short months on the job. Jeanne Devon will take over as Minority Press Secretary on December 8, 2015.
“We are delighted to welcome Jeanne to our team,” said Senate Minority Leader Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage). “Jeanne’s knowledge of new media and her established relationships with traditional media outlets in Alaska will be invaluable as the Alaska Senate Democratic Caucus works in the next legislative session to solve the pressing issues facing Alaska.”
Jeanne Devon is a best-selling author and founding editor of “The Mudflats” blog. She will step down as editor once she takes over as the Alaska Senate Democratic Caucus Press Secretary. She is a contributing writer for “The Huffington Post” and a well-known Alaska state government watch-dog.
“Giving up my blog to work for the Senate Democrats was an easy decision,” said Jeanne Devon. “The Alaska Senate Democratic Caucus has a forward thinking agenda that I believe in and I look forward to helping the caucus communicate their shared and individual messages with the people of Alaska.”
The Alaska Senate Democratic Caucus consists of Senators Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage), Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage), Bill Wielechowski (D-Anchorage), Donny Olson (D-Nome), and Dennis Egan (D-Juneau).
“As Democrats, one of our great strengths is our commitment to each caucus member’s individual responsibility to their constituents,” said Sen. Gardner. “Holding these seats is not simply a matter of ‘leadership,’ but a matter of representation. We have never, and will never, require unanimity of thought, opinion, or votes from our caucus members. While we share certain goals and principles, we also respect and support each member’s duty to those who elected them, and their responsibility to prioritize the unique needs of the citizens in their districts from across the state.”
