Shayne was raised in Anchorage's Spenard and Sand Lake neighborhoods. She studied journalism and public communications at the University of Alaska Anchorage and earned a master's degree from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. She works with local and national organizations to uplift underrepresented communities through advocacy and multimedia storytelling.
