The Alaska Current is teaming up with podcast hosts Blaze Bell and Justin Williams of “What’s Up, Alaska?!” to amplify the stories of Alaskans making an impact and a difference in our state. In this first episode republished in The Current, we hear from Tiffany Hall.

Hall is the executive director of Recover Alaska. She was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska.

After graduating from Bartlett High School, she explored the country for 12 years before returning to Alaska. She came to Recover Alaska in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Classics from Pomona College, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Oregon, and 10 years of nonprofit experience mixed with social justice advocacy, poetry, and dancing.

Hall has been recognized as one of Alaska’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2016, University of Oregon’s 2019 Distinguished Recent Alumna, and was the Grantmakers in Health 2021 recipient of the Andy Hyman Award for advocacy. She currently serves as vice chair of the board of the U.S. Alcohol Policy Alliance.

She loves to spend time with her family and friends — especially her magical daughter Margaret — and is grateful to live and play on the land of the Dena’ina people. Her personal story of recovery can be seen in Recover Alaska’s Day 001 video series.
