What’s Up, Alaska?!: From Anchorage to American Idol and beyond, Adriana Latonio shares her singing journey

Adriana Latonio is an aspiring artist residing in Anchorage, Alaska. She obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in December 2019 and graduated University of Alaska Anchorage in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance with a Voice Emphasis.

Latonio began singing at the age of two and at the age of eight, she began studying with Big Mitch, her performance coach whom she studied with for 10 years. Since then, she has ventured out and worked with multiple voice coaches in the Alaska arts community. To expand her musical background, Latonio taught herself the basics of piano, guitar and ukulele.

During high school, she participated in swing choir, advanced play production and dance contempo. After being exposed to acting and dancing, she found her love for performance as a whole. She performed in East Anchorage High School’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” as Lady Larken and “Little Shop of Horrors” as Audrey. She has also competed in local and out-of-state talent and voice competitions.

Adriana’s biggest accomplishment is being in the top 10 females of American Idol season 12. Her most recent accomplishment is traveling abroad with her a cappella group, Pipeline Vocal Project, to places like Dubai, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Canada, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and more.
