🧶🎃 Fall is in full swing, and there’s no shortage of ways to get out and enjoy it. This week brings a three-day fiber festival in Fairbanks, a romantasy masquerade ball, pumpkin decorating and a pumpkin drop in Kenai, live music and comedy in Anchorage, fall family fun in Palmer, and plenty more happening across the state. There’s something on the schedule for just about everyone.

We’ve pulled together events from across Southcentral, the Interior, Southeast and the Kenai Peninsula—whether you’re looking for something close to home or an excuse to hit the road.

Riff Riot: A Fundraiser for Music Access for All Ages

Line dancing
Friday, Oct. 9 | 6 p.m.-midnight | The Sitzmark
Line dancing and live music hit the Sitz. Shufflin’ Country Style kicks things off from 6–9pm with line dancing lessons for all ages. At 9 p.m., the Jerry Wessling Band takes the stage. 

Palmer/Wasilla

Flip the Script: Assembly & School Board by Mat-Su Sentinel
Thursday, Oct. 8 | 6–8 p.m. | Palmer Depot
An untraditional town hall. Meet the candidates for Mat-Su area Assembly and school board. Bring a charged phone to take part in nonpartisan interactive live feedback. Free food and drinks.

Reindeer Farm Fall Family Fun

The 11th annual Fairbanks Fiber Festival

A free event celebrating all fiber arts including knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, quilting, embroidery, felting, sewing, basketry, and more. A full weekend of workshops, hands-on demos, vendors, educational booths, a fiber tools and equipment sale, food and more.

Weekly folk and light pop music jam, all acoustic instruments welcome.

Ice Music Jam

“Courts and the Press: Two decades on the legal news beat”

UAF Journalism alumnus Nate Raymond has spent 20 years reporting on courts, judges, lawyers, and high-stakes litigation. Free and open to all, this program can be attended on campus or streamed live via Zoom.

The Ivy Ever After Ball
Saturday, Oct. 10 | 6–10 p.m. | Westmark Hotel
A romantasy-themed masquerade ball, with a formal costume requirement. Tickets include a buffet dinner, performances from Cirque Alaska, DJ, dancing, photo booth, swag bags, event T-shirt and tote bag, lanyard, and potential prizes with several contests for costumes and masks.

Boots & Brews Brew Fest

The annual fundraiser event benefits the Brewers Guild of Alaska and breweries across the state.
