Alaskans pack the streets for No Kings protests

The crowd of No Kings Demonstrators stretched for blocks in Downtown Anchorage on Saturday, marking the city’s largest pro-democracy protest of Trump’s second term.

The demonstration was part of a nationwide protest to rebuke Trump and his enablers for the harm and chaos they’ve wreaked on the country and some of its most vulnerable populations. Signs called for lawmakers to oppose Medicaid cuts and expressed support for immigrant populations targeted by increasingly cruel raids organized by masked officers.

Similar demonstrations took place throughout the state, including in Juneau and Fairbanks as well as more far-flung communities like Seldovia, Emmonak and Gustavus. Big names like legendary musher Jeff King also joined in.
