Former Alaska Gov. Knowles endorses Kreiss-Tomkins for governor

Former Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles, the last Democrat to win Alaska’s governorship, has endorsed Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins in the 2026 gubernatorial race.

“While the decisions coming out of the Governor’s office in Juneau affect everyone, those most impacted are the current generation who will be living with the results long after many of us are gone. That’s why I am endorsing Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins for Governor,” Knowles said in a statement.

So far, Kreiss-Tomkins has received more than 45 endorsements from elected officials across the state, including from his hometown of Sitka, to Anchorage, Kotzebue and Kodiak. He served in the Alaska House of Representatives for a decade, holding office from 2013 to 2023.
