More Than 7,000 Ballots Received So Far in Muni Election

This visualization is provided to The Alaska Current through a partnership with Talk Data To Me and the 907 Policy Project.

With voting already under way in the April 4 vote-by-mail Municipality of Anchorage election, 7,114 ballots had been received by the city’s elections workers as of Wednesday. Seven Anchorage Assembly seats are on the ballot, as well as two Anchorage School Board seats, a handful of bonds and ballot propositions, as well as local Service Area Board of Supervisor races.

Anchorage instituted vote by mail in 2018. So far, this year’s results are tracking most closely with the 2019 Anchorage Assembly race, with higher returns than the 2022 Assembly race and lower than the 2020 Assembly race.

Through our data visualization, you can track how this year’s election compares with elections going back to 2018. The visualization will be updated as new results come in, so check back for an updated count.
